Once again, the first loon of the season arrives less than 24 hours after ice-out. (Official ice-out was yesterday.)
This was the lake on Wednesday evening:
Wow!!! Sweeeeeet. Like he/she must have been circling in a holding pattern, just waiting for the ice to go out…..
How do they know? We don’t have ice out on my pond yet.
It’s amazing how you get all these “wild” birds to pose for you so nicely…
Really, how DO they know?
I just love loons. How lucky are you to live so close to all that nature!!
