Ten on Tuesday, the Hallowe’en edition.

Ten Ways To Enjoy Hallowe'en.

  1. Stock up on candy, turn on the porch light, and enjoy the stream of trick-or-treaters. 10 on Tuesday
  2. Play spooky sound effects through a speaker hidden in the bushes in front of the house.
  3. Wear a costume yourself to answer the door when trick-or-treaters come.
  4. Put your dog in a costume and let it help you distribute candy.
  5. Go trick-or-treating yourself with a shot glass. (Smokey knew someone who did this every year — person in question was an elementary school principal.)
  6. Have a simmer pot going with nutmeg and cloves and allspice in the water, to fill the air with the fragrance of pumpkin pie.
  7. Stock up on candy, forget to turn on the porch light, and enjoy the candy for the next two weeks.
  8. Stock up on candy, decide not to turn on the porch light, and enjoy the candy for the next two weeks.
  9. Forget the candy and go out to dinner instead!
  10. Stock up on candy on November 1, when it is all on sale, and enjoy it for the next two weeks.

    Yep. Candy. That’s the ticket!

  2. Cookie says:

Buy candy you like, go out to dinner and enjoy the candy for the next 2 weeks. ;^)

My favorite was the night that we bought the candy, put it out on the front step since it seemed like nobody much was coming, and got up the next day to find out there had been 30 inches of snow, so that even though driving sucked for the entire rest of the winter, we had lots of good candy.
    Or something.
Back when we lived in the littlest town, Daughter and I would go out trick-or-treating, because everybody knew we were hopeless reprobates/ a little odd. The Blues Brothers was a particularly fun year. My favorite still is “a dark presence.” I think Daughter was C3PO, or something mundane. That was before she got into double-bladed axes and stuff.

  4. My favorite thing is buying lots of candy. Then waiting all night for trick-or-treaters that never come. And eating all the candy my myself! I love this holiday!!!!!
