Ten Things I Am Looking Forward To In May

  1. A new hip on May 6. NOT my x-ray.

  2. The reddish haze in the branches that means the swamp maples are in bloom.

  3. Green trees. Also, seeing evidence that the resident bears are awake.

  4. Seeing the little perennial garden I planted outside our front door last August and September. My goal was to disguise the septic tank cover and vent pipe and electrical connection. Obviously.

  5. Seeing how many of the plants survived the winter. The hardy geraniums are lookin' good!*

  6. Going for a pontoon boat ride on the lake.

  7. Knitting on the deck with my friends.

  10. The return of pick-the-ticks-off-the-animals. Not everything about May is delightful

 * I could swear that when looked two hours ago, these plants were not showing. Stuff has to grow FAST in the north.

So many great things to celebrate about May! (Well, except maybe the surgery and the ticks.) Dinner on your porch looks divine! And that perennial garden will surprise you! πŸ™‚

  2. Vicki says:

I’m always amazed at how some plants seem to EXPLODE out of the ground — they grow so fast! Ticks=Ick. Good luck with the surgery!!

  3. Carole says:

I like that you illustrated each of your things with a photo. Well, except for the tick one! LOL.

  4. Leslie says:

What a long wait some of you have for spring! Our windows have been open for weeks. I do love the surprise the garden gives us when we find something has peaked it’s nose up that had been forgotten.

  5. rebeccawip says:

sounds lively and peaceful all except the ticks – they’ve been bad for a month already here even though we havent had warm weather yet. even with drops + flea and tick collar my doggies are still getting attacked :/

  6. Donna says:

Oh those darn ticks. They are going to tough to find on my black puppy! You are correct – things really do have to grow fast up here!

  7. Susan says:

I’m getting a tick puller today at the store, as we’ve started getting ticks and the dog tweezers are nowhere to be found. I hope everything goes well with your new hip, so you can be up and around and enjoying everything else you have mentioned (well, except bears and ticks).

  8. k says:

    You Have Green Stuff!

  9. Helen says:

I hope your op isn’t delayed again, and that it all goes well, and that you’re running and jumping soon πŸ™‚

  10. Mary Lou says:

Oh thanks so much for the engorged tick shot, I forgot I’ll be looking for them, soon! Hope the surgery happens as planned.

  11. Chris says:

    Good luck on your surgery!!
    And ICK about that tick…

  12. Chelsea says:

I love when you post pictures of your nature-filled place. So lovely. πŸ™‚
