Knitting for the cause.

Our county party had its annual dinner on Saturday. For the second year we had a silent auction as a fundraiser. I contributed a couple objets d’knit.

Yarn: Eden Madil 100% bamboo, colorway Earth, 2 skeins.
Pattern: Montego Bay
Needles: Knitter’s Pride bamboo, US#8. Does it reek of cannibalism to knit bamboo yarn with bamboo needles?

Yarn: Plymouth Yarn DK Superwash, color turquoise (color at right is accurate). 2-1/2 skeins? I didn’t really keep track.
Pattern: Underlying Structures. I only did 2-1/2 repeats of the pattern instead of 4. I was sooo tired of knitting this thing, plus this is a good length for an indoor wool cowl; it is a little too bulky to wear doubled, as one would if it were full length, so shorter is better.
Needles: Signature circ, US#5.

When our keynote speaker arrived at the venue I went over to say hi. She complimented me on a mesh-y scarf I had knitted several years ago, saying she had struggled with trying to find a scarf to wear with what she was wearing to our event.

I immediately drew her over to the silent auction to show her the bamboo scarf.

Whaddya think? Would it go with her shirt?

She ended up buying the scarf, and we had a scarf-tying session before she left. (I would vote for her no matter what!)

Edited to add: this. Those colors seem to be popping up everywhere this weekend.
